Guest alexz93111
Hi everyone, I'm having a little trouble with my fonts. For pretty much all programs, the fonts render a little sharp and ugly (unless the program's run as root). Most noticable are the menu bars in programs like Firefox and Gaim. Below are a couple pictures, one showing the menu and URL in Firefox when it's run as a normal user, and the other when Firefox is run as root. When I run as root, the fonts render just fine (smoother and much easier to read). I'm wondering why this is happening, and how I can make the fonts render smooth when I run applications as a normal user. I'm running mdk 10.1 with the latest updates. Bad: Good: uname -a Linux localhost 2.6.8.1-12mdk #1 Fri Oct 1 12:53:41 CEST 2004 i686 Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.80GHz unknown GNU/Linux Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. devries
The user uses the user font settings and root uses the system font settings. Just make the user settings the same as the system settings. Are you using kde or gnome? To change in kde: kde control center, look & feel, fonts.
