Arch: pacman doesn't return any query results

Recommended Posts

hi,

any arch users ever experienced the scenario wherein pacman does not result any query information? it returns the list of installed packages when invoked with

 $ pacman -Q

(i think) but whenever i add some query options (like the one for whoever owns a file) then it returns with nothing and there is no error ($? is 0).

im using the default packages in 0.7 (Wombat).

ciao!

phunni: that is exactly what i was experiencing but "pacman -Q | grep <packagename>" shows that it is installed.

tyme: yeah i tried that too. i began to notice this problem when i downloaded the k3b dependencies (kdebase, kde-libs, kde-common) from the extra repository and kdebase conflicted with kde-libs. this prompted me to check file package ownerships to see if i can force the installation . i know the man page said its not recommended but the installation of arson was unsuccessful.

btw, i did force it and k3b is a little loony in operation. i plan to sort it out this weekend. :)

ciao!
