papaschtroumpf
I used to have a utility that was showing graphically the space used on the hardrive, kidof like a piechart but better, I thought it was called "firelight" or something like this but I can't find it anymore. Anyone know what I'm, talking about?
Guest ebiancarelli
Nope - but if you run KDE, try the KDiskFree utility. Or from command line: df -h

Something similar to spacemonger under windows, or actually the representation for the utility I'm thinking of is closer to what overdisk does under windows: Edited May 1, 2005 by papaschtroumpf
devries
Konqueror has a file size view mode. Go to the directory, click view, mode and file size view.

papaschtroumpf
Thanks to those who tried to help. I suddenly remembered the name, it'd filelight, not "firelight", which makes more sense anyway. http://www.methylblue.com/filelight/ EDIT: it's also in contrib Here's a screenshot: Edited May 1, 2005 by papaschtroumpf
devries
http://linuxreviews.org/screenshots/kde-3....iew.png.en.html This is the file sie view. Guess it's a plugin if you don't have it. :)

papaschtroumpf
I don't understanf, this is supposed to be a standard view choice in KDE 3.3 so LE2005 should include it but it's not there. Adding filelight did add a RadialMap View mode to Konqueror (filelight style size representation). Why am I missing the filesize view? Does anyone else with LE2005 have it? Also, in the view menu I have a KFileReplace entry, I chose it to see what it does and I got an error that "libkfilereplaceparts.la" was not found in the path
adamw
Oooh, I've been looking for something like that for ages! thanks, papa.
papaschtroumpf
weird, the other "File Size View" somehow appeared in my menu. I added kdeaddon maybe it's included in it?
Guest bigmig
Yes, I had the same problem and installing all kdeaddon possible, now I can see that function. Hope you can get it too! :P
AussieJohn
The program is called Filelight. It is excellent and I use it regularly. It is an excellent visual or graphical representation of what is on your Hard Drives. I often recommend it to people. I am surprised you are still using LE2005. Maybe that is the reason you are not getting the full benefits of Filelight. Perhaps it is not fully compatible with LE2005. Why people still recommend cli methods of doing this kind of thing is beyond me. ( this doesn't apply to present posters here.) Cheers. John. neddie
You shouldn't be surprised that these posts are talking about LE2005, John! In May 2005 I imagine that you were still using LE2005, too!
AussieJohn
Sure, but some of us know when to move on. :lol2: :lol2:
