kristi
The start new session in menu is gone. There is a switch user but I run 1 user system. There is an Add to Panel/Applet/Quick Launcher (little rocket ship, but that puts a tiny window on the taskbar that says Error KDE Panel "Malformed URL" with an OK button. How do I get into root while I am in user? tia! Kristi
devries
Open a console, log in as root and type: <application name>. Or alt-f2, more options, user=root. Or ctrl-alt-backspace (or in a console, as root, type init 3), log in as root and type startx

It has gotten to the point that I can run 99.99999% of stuff in user because things will ask for a root password if needed. Thanks!
