I saw somewhere as edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and set the DisplayManager

> setting to gdm from kdm.

But there is not "displaymanager" file or folder in sysconfig folder.

I saw somewhere as edit  /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager and set the DisplayManager

But there is not "displaymanager" file or folder in sysconfig folder.

The file is "/etc/sysconfig/desktop". It should contain the line:

DISPLAYMANAGER=GNOME

You can select the type of session you want (KDE, GNOME or other) from the GDM login display, but if you want GNOME to be the default, add the following line to /etc/sysconfig/desktop

DESKTOP=GNOME

There is no desktop file in there.
