disable ipv6

hi i have mandrake 10.1 my linix box acts as my router shareing my internet connection between all my computers.

 

everything works fine however ever hour or so i get this message

 

eth0:no ipv6 routers present

eth1:no ipv6 routers present

 

every time i geet those messages none of my other computers have access to the internet.

 

i added this line to my modprobe.conf file "alias net-pf-10 off"

 

but i still get the same problem. im certian it is because off the

 

eth0:no ipv6 routers present

eth1:no ipv6 routers present

 

messages i get in syslog they are always the last thing to happen before my internet connection shareing stops working.

 

this guy has a similer problem

ipv6 is utilised in various parts of the internet (it's not mainstream yet as not all hardware/software supports it) and hence most modern linux distros tend to have support turned on.

 

In the majority of cases it shouldn't make any difference and I guess you're unfortunate that it bitt you! Perhaps it should be an install option to turn it on/off, but I'm not a mandrake devel...
