MaxiMRealitY Posted March 7, 2005 Report Share Posted March 7, 2005 hi i have mandrake 10.1 my linix box acts as my router shareing my internet connection between all my computers. everything works fine however ever hour or so i get this message eth0:no ipv6 routers present eth1:no ipv6 routers present every time i geet those messages none of my other computers have access to the internet. i added this line to my modprobe.conf file "alias net-pf-10 off" but i still get the same problem. im certian it is because off the eth0:no ipv6 routers present eth1:no ipv6 routers present messages i get in syslog they are always the last thing to happen before my internet connection shareing stops working. this guy has a similer problem http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ar...004/05/2/181000 any ideas ? MaxiMRealitY Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Share Posted March 7, 2005 ok ill give tht a go. i would aslo like to know if anyone on these forums uses mandrake as a router, and if so have you encounterd a simler problem as i have ? also why dose mandrake use ipv6 if ipv6 is not needed yet. Qchem Posted March 8, 2005 Report Share Posted March 8, 2005 ipv6 is utilised in various parts of the internet (it's not mainstream yet as not all hardware/software supports it) and hence most modern linux distros tend to have support turned on. In the majority of cases it shouldn't make any difference and I guess you're unfortunate that it bitt you! Perhaps it should be an install option to turn it on/off, but I'm not a mandrake devel...
