Microphone on a Nforce 2 chipset

i have purchased a microfone today but it won`t work. it works fine in winblows...

 

what i have tried is record something with audacity but no respons (tried all sources for recording) and i tried it with skype (thats the reason i bought the mic in the first place)

 

system

AMD 2500+

512Mb dual channel meme (2x256Mb)

Nforce2 chipset (mic & audio onboard)

SATA 80GB HDD

ATA 80Gb HDD

 

Mandrake 10.1 (with all updates)

Skype 1.0.0.7

Open a console, type alsamixer, go to the 'mic select' column and select the other mic :)

well i tried that but i cant choose a mic, matter in fact cant find nothing regarding a mic.

i also tried:

start==>system==>configuration==>gnome==>sound

ther is nothing about a mic

 

i tried:

right click on the speaker in my systray and set it to mic. but that does`nt work either

 

also tried it in KDE but no result there either

Well that would explain why the mic doesn't work. :)

 

What module (driver) are you using? (Look in the Mandrake Control Center, hardware, hardware or login as root and type: lsmod)
