Guest Postal Penguin
Hi. I just started using Mandrake 10.1. I have downloaded and installed the Java SDK environment. How do I compile programs? When I type java -version, to check for java, it says command java not found. I have read that you need to set the class path but everywhere I go says edit a different file. The SDK is located in /usr/java/JavaSDK. And when I set this will kdevelop compile programs or will I still need to do this in Konsole. Thanks for the help [moved from Software by spinynorman]
scarecrow
Edit your .bash_profile and add to the PATH the j2sdk /bin directory. Then re-login and it should work.
phunni
It's probably also worth adding an environment variable called JAVA_HOME pointing to the root of your java install (in your case /usr/java/JavaSDK) - some applications will look for this...
