Where's the bootloader? [solved]

Hi all, I have decided to give Linux a try. I had a guy download Mandrake 10.1 DVD for me (The free one) I gave it a try at work and after a little confusion the work PC now has Linux and XP pro working as a duel boot setup perfectly apart from not working on the win modem. So then I say to myself, "Self. This would be ok to install at home" Which I did. The install went easily, no errors. I thought this is cool; I may have to buy a penguin sticker for the computer. Once the setup was complete I was asked to restart, after doing so the comp booted straight to Windows There was no hint of the bootloader. Both work and home computer have the same XP SP2 install (Cough) and I am using the same Linux DVD as well. I have tried for the last five hours to Google the problem but found nothing that matches. I am completly new to Linux, so new in fact that the first time I I saw it was yesterday when I installed at work. I know that when I have neede help with windows people wanted to know what hardware I had, so with that in mind I have included the list below. Forgive me if I put in too much, I just want to get this fixed so I can take a look at it while I am off work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Well apart from being told to get rid of XP...at least till I can work with Linux confidently

The boot loader should be installed to the Master Boot Record, mbr. The installer may have asked you something about where to put the boot loader, and you may have installed it in / instead of the mbr. Boot the cd, at the splash hit F1, type "rescue" at the prompt, and when you are presented with the rescue menu, reinstall lilo.

Make sure you are installing lilo to the mbr that also contains windows. The /mbr is not the boot area. I believe you said windows and linux are on the same drive. If it is an ide drive, then it will be hda, hdb, hdc, or hdd. If it is the sata drive, it might be sd0, sd1, or such. Use the right device.

Look at your bios screen and tell me what it says, usually the first screen. I'm looking for where the bios says your devices are located.
