Guest tic
hi everyone. I have a problem with LAN Browsing. I have 2 NIC's: eth0 conected to a cable modem for the internet connection and eth1 for LAN connection. The problem is I can't see the computers on my LAN. I can surf on the internet but i can't acces the computers in LAN. Here it is the output of ifconfig: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:6E:11:89:D3 inet addr:(IP from ISP) Bcast:(IP from ISP) Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::20c:6eff:fe11:89d3/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1380818 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:5141 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:85095452 (81.1 Mb) TX bytes:2255655 (2.1 Mb) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x1000 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:F4:73:2F:90 inet addr:172.16.0.xxx Bcast:172.16.1.255 Mask:255.255.254.0 inet6 addr: fe80::240:f4ff:fe73:2f90/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:12751 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:206 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:1229875 (1.1 Mb) TX bytes:24576 (24.0 Kb) Interrupt:5 Base address:0x3000 The output of /etc/init.d/network status Configured devices: lo eth0 eth1 Currently active devices: lo eth0 eth1 I get an error when i launch lisa as root in console. NetManager::prepare: bind (TCP) failed, errno: 98 The settings for eth0 and eth1 are: eth0 IP: provided by ISP Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: provided by ISP DNS: (1) 192.231.236.xx (2) 192.231.236.yy eth1 IP: 172.16.0.aaa Netmask: 255.225.254.0 Normally I don't have a gateway for LAN connection, but eth1 take from eth0 the setting for gateway and DNS servers. Can anyone tell me how can I fix this problem?? 10x
coverup
Shouldn't you start lisa by service lisa start|stop|restart|status?
Guest tic
/etc/init.d/lisa status lisa is running! (3970
tyme
what do you mean by you can't access the computers on the LAN? do you get no response when attempting to ping them?
Steve Scrimpshire
I could be wrong cuz I'm no network config guru, but maybe this is the problem? eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:F4:73:2F:90 inet addr:172.16.0.xxx Bcast:172.16.1.255 Mask:255.255.254.0 Doesn't that mean that you're broadcasting on a different network than you are registered on? Or am I just dumb and the netmask 255.255.254.0 allows that? Edited February 5, 2005 by Steve Scrimpshire
Guest tic
they respond when i ping them. I can't see them in LanBrowser. in LanBrowser appears to be some IPs that don't belong to my LAN. In LanBrowser I have 10.12.xx.xx but in Lan I have 172.16.x.xxx. I don't know where these IPs come from! And, when I double-click one of those IPs I get an error: Unknown host! Guest tic
I did it! Now I can see the computers over my LAN. I don't know what the problem was, but I fixed it up reinstalling LISA!!! Everything is cool now!!! Edited February 5, 2005 by tic
