galaxy3001
Hi, all, I'm planning to install MDK Linux on a desktop computer and want to buy a USB wireless network card for it to connect to my wireless router. Can you guys recommend a few brands that you know work with MDK Linux? BTW, please also mention whether the driver of the card needs to be downloaded or is already included in MDK Linux. Thanks a lot.
Dyslexic
I've seen the X-Micro USB WiFi working, but you'd have to patch and compile your kernel for the USB interface, compile the kernel module for the WiFi driver, and sacrifice a goat to the Gods of hardware compatibility. Other USB devices might be easier to setup, but USB WiFi support on Linux is not good in general. I strongly recommend using a wireless access point in client mode if you can't use a PCI card for some reason.
Qchem
They cost $20 but the Linuxant wlan drivers have support for several USB interfaces, I've had good experience with them and pci cards. They also offer a free trial.
