Guest theolendras
I've installed Mandrake 10.1 last week. It's been a while since I last used Linux (except to recover some data with Move on an unbootable computer) for three years I've only manage to use Windows. As I want to get familiar with Linux I decided to install Mandrake which I think is one of the easiest. Everything worked fine, I managed to installed a few programs here and there and to learn a few commands. Once I plug in my USB hard drive, Konqueror cease to work. I can get it to work again with the shell as root, but still can't see anything on the drive which seems to be detected and mounted properly. I found a guy which ran through the same obstacle and by disabling mountwatcher.kded it finally solves the problem. I my case it resolved half of the problem, I can use Konqueror without being a super user, but still can't access my USB drive. Under Windows XP and Gnome I can access the data on this external drive which contains only a FAT32 partition. Would the solution be to download the fourth Mandrake CD and install KDE 3.3 ? Any clue somebody ?
Guest ola
I have nearly the same problem. If I have already have Konqueror opend and plug in my USB drive then I can continue using Konqueror and even browse the USB drive itself. But after having plugged in the USB drive I can't start a new instance of Konqueror even for Internet browsing. Any help welcome!!!
arctic
have you already tried to access the usb-stick in konqueror after refreshing konquerors display? have you already added all patches/updates to your system? if not, at the top of this page is a link for easyurpmi. set up your mirros as explained there and update your system. that might fix your problem if you haven't updated your system yet. nchancock
I had this same EXACT problem with both my 10.1 installs and applying the updates through the "MandrakeLinux Updates" option in the menu button fixed the problem. I read somewhere that this was actually a bug that shipped with 10.1. Apply the updates, it will fix the problem. Good Luck :)
