I'm getting this error when i try to execute an icon on my desktop or on the toolbar. Items in the menu also do not work. It seems to be related to using NIS and having simultanious desktops open on different computers (/home shared)

I saw this but don't have a clue! I thought perhaps updating kmenu, but that does not explain the overall failure of the object. You might ask a mod to move this to the networking section where some of those guys who usually camp there might be of more help.

Ask to move, please do not double post!

Hi! Does anybody have a clue why this problem occurs? I'm experiencing this quite frequently for some time now. I know it's wrong but I've mixed 10.1 and cooker rpm's. I've tried updating kdebase, kdelibs and several other rpm's but it still comes up. What do you think are the other rpm's I need to update or is there other fixes? I'm on dial-up so updating to the latest cooker release is very inconvenient for me.

that's your problem. interdependencies between cooker and stable are not tested or provided for so this is exactly what will happen if you use cooker packages on stable. It's really very hard to sort out without sticking on 10.1 or upgrading entirely to cooker. maybe your best option might be to get hold of some 10.2 beta CDs from somewhere, as they're pretty close to being an up to date cooker.
