Guest stephan
I used SNF for two years without (many) problems , since two weeks I try to get MNF running. Installing on a 200 P1 with two realtech NICs goes without errors , I use ADSL and after configure Internetconnection I have an IP for one minute , reconnection is okay , but every minute this new IP, dam! I configured classical masqerading like "Help" told me but it doesn't work. In the shell I got reject messages with provider IP and after stopping shorewall it also don't want to work! Reading shorewall.net gave me much education but not for my case. Is it possible that - I have to configure a ppp0 zone ??? - to get a manual ??? - there are errors on the CD ??? Thanks for help stephan
MoonChild
Wish I could help... The MDK Website has a lot of info I think though... Why don't you try them?
tvlad
What can i say, i downloaded Mnf and tried to install it on our server. The configuration was a nightmare (never going to use it AGAIN). It didn't detect the networking cards, and i had to configure them by hand, but that's not hard at all, the problem was getting it to accept conections on 8443. After strugling with it we finally managed to do this, but when we made a change through the browser interface, it blocked all our connections again, we had to login from the server itself and takedown shorewall. Finally, it wasn't blocking everytime we made a change, but although we configured it well (at least we think so), it just didn't work. And another reason i won't use it again, the usual networking files are modified automatically by files with the same names found in /usr/share/naat/templates/etc .And those files are ugly lookin scripts. That's why i switched to Mdk 9.0 for our server. The benefits are that u have total control over the config files and that u learn a lot during the process of setting up a server, unlike u would do with MNF. Counterspy
Read the thread started by siko in Installing Mandrake and follow the links in that discussion as to why it may be causing you problems. There is also another below this one. Counterspy
