painesy
I'm not sure if this is the right place but: When I log in I get a message saying that my password will expire in 1 day. I was wondering if this was normal and, if so, how I could change the timeout so that this would never happen. Thanks
Guest anon
You need to give more info. Whats your setup, what are your running, MDK, red hat etc? Desktop or server?
painesy
I'm running it on a computer running MDK that is to be used as a server. I have stopped dm from running on startup so I just have a text based interface. When I log in as an ordinary user or root it tells me that my password will expire inj 1 day. I have not changed the password since I set up the computer.
Guest anon
Have a look in /etc/default/useradd Make sure it reads something like this: GROUP=100 HOME=/home INACTIVE=-1 EXPIRE= SHELL=/bin/bash SKEL=/etc/skel
painesy
Yesterday I checked that code and the file is exactly like how it was posted. It also said when I logged in that my password qould expire in 0 days. Is there some sort of default timeout on passwords or something?
