  1. Yesterday I checked that code and the file is exactly like how it was posted. It also said when I logged in that my password qould expire in 0 days. Is there some sort of default timeout on passwords or something?
  2. I'm running it on a computer running MDK that is to be used as a server. I have stopped dm from running on startup so I just have a text based interface. When I log in as an ordinary user or root it tells me that my password will expire inj 1 day. I have not changed the password since I set up the computer.
  3. I'm not sure if this is the right place but: When I log in I get a message saying that my password will expire in 1 day. I was wondering if this was normal and, if so, how I could change the timeout so that this would never happen. Thanks

    Shutdown

I'm not sure if this is the right place but ... I was wondering if anyone knew how I could allow an ordinary user to shut down the computer. At the moment I can only run the init and shutdown commands as root and I do not want to give away the root password to the people who need to be able to shut down the server. Thanks
  5. Thanks for that. Marked the thread Solved - Artificial Intelligence
  6. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but, I am setting up a server I am trying to find out how I cam set it up so no gui starts when the computer is booted up. I would just uninstall everything but I still want to be able to start up the gui for doing certain tasks. I was wondering if somebody could tell point me in the right direction as to how to do this. Thanks [moved from Art & Design by spinynorman]
  7. Sorry, It is just a group of windows 98 and xp machines. They are currently just sharing two drives on one of the 98 machines and we feel that it could be worthwhile having a dedicated machine for this.
  8. I am looking to set up a linux based file and print server on an entirely windows network. Could somebody please tell me how on earth I would go about doing this? Thanks
