Guest dUMBEST
I installed Linux (Mandrake 10.1 download) yesterday for the first time. This is my first experience with Linux ever, so I am a total noob so just assume I know nothing. The sound in Doom3 runs fine, however I have a 1 second sound delay in Wolf:ET I have to use the “artsdsp -m” on Wolf:ET to get any sound at all (though D3 works just fine on it's own). I am using my on-board sound (Realtek ALC655 6-Channel audio CODEC) (Here is the motherboard http://www.ecsusa.com/products/865pe-a2.html) According to my Mandrake control utility thingie it says this about my sound: 82801EB AC'97 Audio by Intel (which it is not by Intel) Driver Module:Module: snd-intel8x0 There are “proper” Linux sound drivers for my card at RealTek's site. Though, as I said I am a total noob and can not figure out how to install them. If I did get them installed, would that fix my sound delay in Wolf:ET? Or is there another solution, as the sound in everything else seems to be working well enough (for someone with a day and a half of Linux experience total). Any help would be much apperciated.
