Try changing the plug-n-play setting in your BIOS.

Don't forget to save it and then run lilo -v afterwards.

Try going into kcontrol and disabling aRTs soundserver.

Are you sure you burned it as an ISO?

Try booting XP and go past the first opportunity to repair. Then there's one more screen (I think) where you still act like you're going to install, but then the next screen, you'll get another chance to hit R to do an automated repair. That should do it. Watch for the second chance to do a repair (automated), because that screen in between might not be there or there might be two in between. I'm rusty.

Try hitting Esc at the lilo prompt and type in linux apci=off and see if you can boot.

Every time I burn a DVD with k3b, it tells me that there was an error and the md5sums don't match, but it works fine anyway. I wouldn't worry about it. I think it is the nature of DVDs (with Linux anyway).

Did you check the md5sums of the ISOs before you burned them?

I don't have a problem with 10.1 updates.
