Not bein able to access any of my files on file:\mnt is really annoying, iv tried changing the permissions on the file, moving them, etc so my question is

 

how do i set my main account to have root privs.

 

i dont care about security btw, i just wana acess my files

Changing the permissions of your /mnt directory won't get you very far without having your fstab file setup properly. In this file you can set devs to make them writeable, etc. by users.

$ man fstab

 

Otherwise, you could use the 'chown' command to set your user as owner of the directories in /mnt.

 

That is the Linux way to do things - you can't give users root privilege as such, it's insecure and doesn't make much sense.

nah... this is not mandrakes fault but your impatience and short temper. ;) you could have waited some minutes and everything would have been solved in an easy and fast way... but if you prefer gentoo... your choice. :)
