jagibbs
A while ago I uninstalled OpenOffice. Today I reinstalled it using [system->Configuration->Packaging->Install Software]. It asked for the various CD's which I inserted and when it was done it said everything was installed. Question is...Where the heck is it installed to and how can I run it? It didn't show up automatically in the start menu. I find a reference to openofice in the /usr/lib directory and another in my home user directory, but can't seem to find the "executable" file anwhere. thanks ------------ Mandrake 10.1 KDE 3.

jagibbs
yeah it never appeared in the start menu even though the install went fine, even after a restart. I had installed all the packages from the list. I had been looking for "soffice" or something like that for the executalble though. It was version 1.1.3 Regardless, I ended up doing (messing up) a bunch of other stuff (like fonts, ATI drivers, and sound drivers) that same evening due to my newbie status and therefore did a full reinstall of mandrake which [obviously] fixed the problem. I've learned a whole lot in the past week or so since I first tried linux though...which is good. Honestly, it hasn't beat out Windows 2000 Pro for speed or looks yet, but it gets props for "customizability". I've never had my Win2000 box crash anything for months at a time either..dual boot for now while i learn this thing.
