Linux and 64 bit

Linux was the first system to run on 64 bit opteron cpu's.

 

MS still hasn't managed to enter that market.

 

FYI, things with open specs tend to have linux support first. Bluetooth comes to mind as an example.

 

Linux is only behind in terms of hardware support if the manufacturers do non standard stuff and don't share that info.
