I need to modify some files in my Windows partion. How is this done? I've went to Run Command > /mnt/windows and can see the files and access them but can't modify them. Please go over everything, I've learned people skip the basics and try other things when it was the basics all along.Windows being bootable or not (in my case) relys on 8 characters that need to be deleted from a file name.

There are various things that could be done. Although iI consider myself still a noob, the information provided does not give me everything i need to point you in the right direction. What I do know is that in general windows xp offers u the opportunity to convert drives to ntfs. As of today it is possible yet not recommended to write on ntfs drives via linux. In case your drive is of the type fat32 u should be able to write to it. In that case you would have to change the settings for it in order for you to be able to write to it. These changes are well documented if you search this forum for /etc/fstab.

I beliieve I made my drive NTFS. I'm not out of luck althougher. I was just looking to see if it could be done esily. Now I'll just slave this HDD onto another computer and edit in there, hopefully it'll work. I plan to try this as soon as I get some time, so probably by tonight.
