Hi! New to linux and have downloaded everest dictionary which seems to be good. AFter unpacking i read in the installation txt file that i should copy libborqt-6.9-qt2.3.so to /usr/lib/

When i try so it says something like "acecss deniied, could not write to /usr/lib/libborqt-6.9-qt2.3.so

Why is that? Anybody could help me?

hi there :)

you are trying to install the files as normal user, i guess. in linux, for security reasons, only root has access to the system-tree by default. the normal user can usually only hack in his /home directory. so if you want to copy the stuff to your /usr/... folder, do it as root. you can either do that in a terminal (type su, then root password) or you could log in as root (in case you do not use the default mandrake-login manager but kdm, gdm, xdm or the command line). ;)
