  1. Hi! First of all Id just like to mention that I wasnt sure whether to post this topic her or in the "software" section so feel free to move it if appropriate! As the topic says, when I play divx films in Caffeine Media Player the video makes a small skip every 20 seconds. I also get sound "clicks", not that often but maybe around every third minute... I have no problems with the sound or video when playing dvds and the sound works fine in any other "sound-application"... Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
  2. Its now set to plastik but the problem still persist...
  3. Hi! After 10 days of trying to understand why I cannot select menu transparancy in KDE anymore I finally decided to write and ask you guys here at the forum... I was using it before but then when playing around with the looknfeel settings it can no more be selected... I havent made any hardware changes etc. during this time.. just using linux as usual.. Any ideas? Thanks [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  4. Alright its working now.... thanks a lot for the help :)
  5. Thanks a lot for your quick reply but unfortunately it didnt solve it, cause, for me, that wrech icon only comes up when Amarok displays either playlists or actual files on the harddrive, not when you have the collection mode on. However if I drag and drop from playlists or the from the "hard-drive" option then the songs appear in order... its just that the albums shows up nice in the collection-mode, hence Id prefere to use that... Sorry to be so tiresome.. I know this is probably a minute problem compaired to the ones of other people here at this forum...
  6. Should also add that strangely when I drag the whole artist to the playlist then it appears in order!!!!! ITs just when I try and drag the album that it apperas inversed...maybe it could be a bug in Amorak 1.1?
  7. hmm.. there is no "ascend" button when i click on the wrench icon in amorak.... or is it in some of the submenues? I tried to check but havent found any "ascend" option... maybe I didnt look properly? Secondly, to answer iphtus; Maybe I didnt explain myself properly.. It is when I drag the album from the "collection tree" which has been sorted by artist -> album that the mp3s appear in inversed order i.e. last track first, first track last. I didnt have this problem when I was using Amorak 1.0 though... I know I can click and simply just reverse the list to the right order but when you have many albums and amorak will just show all the "01"-songs first etc. and that isnt that helpful becasue it will only play the first song of each album and then the second and so on... I know this is a minor thing but I have around 2000 album and unfortunately too fuzzy about it.... I should also add that all my mp3s have the track number in the id3-"title" tag (along with the track title) and not the "track number"-id3 tag... not sure if that would make any difference...
  8. Hi! Does anyone know why I keep getting my lists in Amorak and Kmail reversed? Of course its easy to correct this. I just click on the "title button" in Amorak (and "sort" button in Kmail) to get them in alphabetical order (starting with "a" and not "z" as I have now). However it gets a bit tedious to do it everytime and if you add many albums to Amorak then it starts gettting a bit hard to sort them..... I've tried to look around in the KDE settings but havent found anything. Im using Mandrake 10.1 Download edition. I would be very happy if any of you guys could help me with what's going on!
  9. I know its a real basic question... but I fail to figure out how you delete everything (including folders/subfolders) in a directory (without deleting the directory itself) in one command from the konsole? Thanks! [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  10. Hm. that rpm is for some reason not on any of the 3 ISOs i downloaded from linuxquestions. Maybe its not in the 10.1 CE version?
  11. Sorry but im getting a bit confused... Due to what ive read Juk is suppose to come with KDE... I have mandrake 10.1CE with KDE 3.2.3 but when I look at the install software section under the "configure your computer" button I can't find Juk.. nor can I find it installed on my system... Could it be because I have the community version?
  12. Thanks for that! Will check it up right now!
  13. Hi! swapped to linux for a couple of weeks ago and have now got to understand the really basics.... but now to my question; Was using tagscanner with windows which I loved, but so far, I have found it hard to find a good substitute. Was wondeing if any of you guys have any good id3 editing programs to recommend.. Something that would edit v2 tags, have an option for importing tags from the filenams/directories and also be able to apply changes to many mp3s in one go (so you dont have to do each one seperatelly)? Thanks!
  14. Hi! Now when Ive got most of my PC to work with Mandrake Ive come to the final challange... to set up my tv-out! I've looked around and it seems like you are supposed to use Xfree86 or seomthing like that but I saw somewhere that it didnt support Radeon 7000? Mandrake have installed my Radeon 7000 as "Radeon VE/7000 QY (AGP/PCI) and it seems to work fine... do I need extra drivers to get my TV-out to work?
  15. Hi! Got a bit unpatient and installed mandrake again, since I also wanted to do some configurations with my windows partitions and now its working for some reason. I can access my fat32 windows partition! But I will take your advice and write down that command line somewhere for future use! Thanks a lot anyway! /Finn
  16. Hi! This is getting into a bit of nightmare..... I logged in as root and right-clicked at the folder and I could check the boxes so that everybody (finn, root, group) could access, write into the directory but then when I click apply and close nothing has changed! I also tested with deleting the partition and creating a new one logedded in as user (finn)! but still when i go to properties it says that root has created it!!!!!!!!! hmmm.... strange...
  17. /dev/hda5 / ext3 defaults 1 1 none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0 /dev/hda8 /home ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/hda9 /home/finn/winlin vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0 /dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom2 auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0 none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850 0 0 /dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 /dev/hdb1 /mnt/win_c2 ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 /dev/hda6 /mnt/win_d ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 none /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/hda7 swap swap defaults 0 0 Here it is... As you can see my user name is "finn" and the "winlin" partition is currently placed in /home/finn/winlin but still I cannot access it although it is placed in the home/finn directory.. do I have to call it /home/finn as well? Thanks a lot for the help :)
  18. Hi! Im newbe to linux and is getting a bit confused with the file system... When I installet linux I created a / (root) partition, a /home partition (ext3 journalised) and a /home/winlin partition (Fat32 so i can access it in windows)... plus that I left my two winddows ntfs partitions My problem is that I cannot write to the fat32 partition if im logged in normally! Only when I log in as root I can write to it! Ive tried to change its mount points to various including /var/winlin but that didnt help! I also dont understand why I SOMETIMES CAN, and SOMETIMES CANNOT unmount and mount partitions i.e. I open konsole type "su" and the diskdrake. Whenn I want to unmount the fat32 partition (for trying to change its directory to somehting else) I only get the mesage "Can't access partiotion it migh be in use" (or something similar). This is not resolved when I boot as the root! The only partition I can unmount is my windows NTFS partition! My main problem is though the first one, that I cannot write to my fat32 partition (only as root) the second bit just confuses me a bit! Does anyone have an idea about what I could do? Im a bit fed up with having to log in as root anytime i want to write something to my fat32 drive... THe last question is: is my "naming" of my lFAT32 inux partitions reasonable... i.e." /home/winlin" or "/var/winlin" or should it be called something else? (has that something to do with whether I can access it or not as a normal user?) for your time [moved from Installing Mandrake by spinynorman]
  19. no... my amp+speakers are ok... but anyway its solved.. and guess how? I ran down to the shop and got me a SB Live.... something i should have got a long time ago anyway i realise now when im listening to the awesome sound coming out from my speakers :)
  20. Found the PCM channel.. but no difference whatsoever...
  21. Hmm.. and where do i find this "PCM" channel ?
  22. Hi! I've just installed mandrake 10.1 and have now realised that when i play mp3's on my pc the highest frequencies of the sound are a bit exagerated and the sound turns slightly "nasal". Its barely noticable but its very annoying since i have 50gb of music on my computer.. atm mandrake is using the "snd-via82xx" driver which was automatically installed during the installation process. i have tried with another "via"-driver which was in the list of drivers and the same thing appeared. Ive also tried to turn off any line-in channels etc. ANy ideas?
