SilverSurfer60
I've been chasing this problem around for a while now. Tried all the suggestions none worked. Took a look at the sound files and the one for hangup i.e. hangup.wav was a 16 bit sound file the others were 8 bit. Converted the 16 bit to 8 bit and it works no problem now. Edit '/usr/share/skype/sound/hangup.wav' simply convert to 8 bit.

SilverSurfer60
how do you convert it to 8 bits ? You can use most 'wav' editing apps, or SOX, I used MHWaveEdit. Make a copy of the original first in case it doesn't work for you. MIne is still working and I've not had the error since changing the file. It sounds a bit too simple but it seems to work.
