Due to nmbd problems I reconfigured my connection settings. I ran the MCC wizard and then restarted. When I booted Linux, X was not working.

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module!

 

This is the error. It means the nvidia driver isn't loaded. Log in as root and type modprobe nvidia. Then try again.

 

PS. Add nvidia yo the /etc/moprobe.preload file. That way the driver will be loaded when you start Linux.

Thx for the reply .... I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver and now it works...... You can imagine how frustrated I was when I wrote this post: I only modified some network settings and X failed on me.

 

It's solved now.
