Guest adventurepants
Hi there, I have a Dell Inspiron 8600, loaded with Mandy 10 Official, and im trying to get the Intell 2200 BG Wireless card working. I have managed to uninstall the old version of ndiswrapper that was installed by default (0.4), and installed the rpm of ndiswrapper 0.9 for Mandy 10. It installed fine, i have loaded the inf file for my card w22n51.inf, and when i run ndiswrapper -l it reports W22n51 hardware present. i then modprobe ndiswrapper, and it doesnt report any errors. when i run dmesg though, it gives no referece to wlan at all and at the bottom it says ndiswrapper 0.4 loaded. When i run iwconfig, it reports no extensions being present. Where can i go from here? Is the wrong version of ndiswrapper loaded even though i uninstalled the older version before installing the new?
Guest adventurepants
I have a suspicion that the problem is due to the version of ndiswrapper so im trying to compile the 0.11 version from source. when i go make install i get this: make -C driver install make[1]: Entering directory `/incoming/ndis/ndiswrapper-0.11/driver' make -C /lib/modules/2.6.3-7mdk/build SUBDIRS=/incoming/ndis/ndiswrapper-0.11/driver \ NDISWRAPPER_VERSION=0.11 \ EXTRA_VERSION= modules make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.3-7mdk/build: No such file or directory. Stop. make: Entering an unknown directorymake: Leaving an unknown directorymake[1]: *** [default] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/incoming/ndis/ndiswrapper-0.11/driver' make: *** [install] Error 2 how do i get around this issue? Guest adventurepants
Ive just realised that when i uname -r it says my kernel version is 2.6.3-7mdk but when i go to /usr/src/linux my kernel folder is called linux-2.6.3-19.mdk is this causing the problem. and if so how do i make them match? hmmmmm. devries
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.3-7mdk/build: No such file or directory. Stop The build directory is a link to /usr/src/linux and the linux folder is a link to the kernel-source. So yes, thats your problem. You need to install the correct source for your kernel. spinynorman
adventurepants - I have merged your two threads on the same topic. Please don't start more than 1 thread for the same problem as it causes confusion.
Guest adventurepants
Thanks guys. Reloaded from the install discs back to kernel 2.6.3-7, uninstalled ndiswrapper .4, and compiled .11. The driver appeared right away in Dmesg, and ive now got it working. Cheers!
