teh_sAbEr
is it possible to download the necessary files (via URPMI) to upgrade Mandrake 10 to 10.1 without having to download 700 MB ISOs? is there a command that updates all software on your system to something more recent? Ixthusdan
Yes. The real question is, do you want to? I have three other systems to compuite in if Mandrake is being difficult. The rc1 is actually worse for me than the beta1!! But if you don't mind working at it, yes you can point your update source to cooker (or a 10.1 folder) and go to it! teh_sAbEr
of course i want to! could you point me to a 10.1 folder? easyurpmi doesn't seem to have 10.1 listed in the options..
liquidzoo
Take your favorite mirror and plot out your sources (not sure about plf yet, but this will work for main and contrib) Change this portion of the command listed only! .../official/10.0/ to .../devel/10.1/ Same would be true (I assume) for 10.2, 11.0, etc. Do this at your own risk, however. As Ix said, RC1 of 10.1 is not the most stable thing in the world, and if you have an nvidia card it's a nightmare to set up the drivers (but it can be done). Check for my post in Everything Linux calling out to 10.1RC1 users to find out the work-around.
teh_sAbEr
ic ic.. maybe i should rethink the whole thing. a little off topic, but is there a urpmi command that automatically updates all your software (like fluxbox, mozilla, GAIM, etc, etc, etc) with a later (or the latest) version than what you already have? thanx for the help! arctic
urpmi --auto-select will update your system to the latest stable releases.
