QzarBaron
I have Mandrake 10 on a 2.6.7 kernel. I can't seem to be able to listen to any music. KsCD seems to think there is a song playing and it recognizes the CD but I won't hear any sound. I know my sound is working because I can hear warnings and other sound files on Mandrake but I can neither listen to music or watch DVDs. Thanks in advance. spiedra
Have you tried using another player such as xmms? I don't use KsCD, but maybe the problem is only specific to that player. Also what dvd player are you using? There are some things you may have to get in order to view dvd's. aRTee
Can you do: play [file.wav] and hear something? Or do: cat /boot/vmlinuz > /dev/dsp Check your mixer settings for muted channels and volume settings.
axel_2078
I'm having the same problem. I can hear music stored on my hard drive, but if I put a CD in, it seems to play, but there is no sound.
Guest no0tic
Probably you don't have analog sound cable from CD drive to the sound card. You need to use digital sound; to hear Audio Cds you can use alsaplayer that use digital sound. I've had the same problem and I solved in this way
Echylo
I had the same problem, but Kmix fixes the sound at the same point, every reboot, so it's too silent for my boxes, if that's not the problem, then I agree with no0tic
