The ATI install seems to go off without any problems, but when I check the info after restarting XFree, it still lists Mesa as being the display drivers. I canf find any way to make it use the ATI ones. It is a Radeon 9800 XT using ATI's drivers (trying to use) on Mandrake 10.

Oh and I tried to search for an answer on this forum, but I got an error.

Did you run an XFree configuration tool after installing ATI drivers? You may want to backup the current XF86Config-4 and than run an X configuration tool. You can try Xdrake, or the ATI config utility which comes with the ATI drivers from ATI.

I have, I used fglrxconfig (if thats what you mean). I even tried deleting the old config file before saving the new one.

No such luck. Already tried that. Heres by build...

MAKE.SH

ATI module generator V 2.0

==========================

initializing...

make.sh: line 630: /proc/version: Permission denied

make.sh: line 631: /proc/version: Permission denied

cleaning...

patching 'highmem.h'...

skipping patch for 'drmP.h', not needed

skipping patch for 'drm_os_linux.h', not needed

assuming new VMA API since we do have kernel 2.6.x...

doing Makefile based build for kernel 2.6.x and higher

make -C /lib/modules/2.6.3-7mdk/build SUBDIRS=/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/2.6.x modules

make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.3-7mdk'

*** Warning: Overriding SUBDIRS on the command line can cause

***          inconsistencies

make[2]: `arch/i386/kernel/asm-offsets.s' is up to date.

  CHK    include/asm-i386/asm_offsets.h

  Building modules, stage 2.

  MODPOST

make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.3-7mdk'

build succeeded with return value 0

duplicating results into driver repository...

done.

==============================

You must change your working directory to /lib/modules/fglrx

and then call ./make_install.sh in order to install the built module.

==============================

MAKE_INSTALL.SH

- creating symlink

- recreating module dependency list

- trying a sample load of the kernel module

done.

Any one see any problems?
