Ronin
Ok I'm stumped. I've been running pure-ftpd teaching myself how to set up a ftp server in linux, next project is a web server then a mail server. :) But as a whim I'd give proftpd a shot. I installed proftpd and webmin and followed Afrosheens excellent tutorial on setting it up. It worked like a charm except for one thing, I can't get the users chroot'd to the directory I want to lock them into. They can cd into any directory they choose to which as you can imagine isn't a good thing, they can't do anything but look but that's not the point. I checked on proftps site in the faq and the context is correct according to thier information but it sitll won't lock the users in. With the vague information I gave anyone have any suggestions on what to check? :?
Ronin
Got it figured out. It was the ##*@&^#$*^@#*$^@*#$ default server config overriding what I wanted it to be. Next project web server, then email server here I come.
