phunni
I just booted into my PC (running arch although I doubt that's relevant) and for some reason found that mozilla kept crashin whenever I went to any site. After that, X crashed and I had to restart my computer - the kernel was still running I think, as there was none of the flashing lights that accompany a kernel panic. But nothing was responding so I had to switch the machine off. now it's as if I had no hard drive at all! The drive was partitioned, some of them were reiserfs, but my boot one was ext2. Can anyone help? I've lost everything!
phunni
Anyone? I don't even mind buying a new drive if I can figure out a way of getting the data off the old drive...
tyme
got another system you could stick it in as a slave and try to mount it?
phunni
no, although the current system does have two drives. I could try swapping the master and slave over and installing linux on that and see if it's mountable. My only question is - if it could be seen by another system, why can't mine. It really is as if it was not even physically connected to the system Is there some kind of disk check/repair utility that I coulduse to get it back up long enough to back up the data? Ideally one on a bootable media...
