Hello.

After installing Mandrake 10.0 in my computer with the help of Partition Magic 8.0, when I tried to use it with LILO, it just collapsed, at the end it says ,

KERNEL PANIC, no init found.

Then, I loaded Win XP with LILO, saw the different partition created and there are three.

Linux Ext 3

SWAPSPACE

Linux Ext 3

So, what should I do in order to see for the first time linux in my computer??

Luck!

you can delete one ext3 partition , only need one ext3(2 or reiserfs) and one swap.

:o

what'll that do?

boot to cd1

at the splash screen press F1

type rescue and press Enter

choose Mount Your Partitions under /mnt

watch and read the screen output and post the findings

After returning to GUI rescue mode choose Got To Console

type chroot /mnt and press Enter

type cat /etc/lilo.conf and post what it says

Hey, I think I've alreayd idetified the problem, according to lilo, it must boot linux from hda8, but, lilo.conf is mounted in hda7, the problem is a too new to this linux enviroment and I don't know how to open it for editing from console, anyway here is the lilo.conf

So, what command should I run in console so that I can modify this archive?

Luck and thanks!

to modify lilo, enter as root, then write "vi lilo.conf" this will open text in console, then press " i " modify all you need and when you are happy with changes just press "Esc" then press " : wq+enter " this will save all modifications. if you dont want save modifications press "esc" and then " :q" :wall:
