pcbuilder Posted June 28, 2004 Report Share Posted June 28, 2004 I am running Mandrake 10 & Xp Pro from a boot loader My original setup was the XP Pro using forceware drivers for an MSI motherboard and a MSI Graphics card with Nvidia chip sets. What i would like to know is do i need to install Linux versions of these drivers on my Mandrake partition to take full advantage of the hardware,and will it in any way conflict with my XP setup Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tyme Posted June 28, 2004 Report Share Posted June 28, 2004 if you plan on playing any 3d games you'll want to install the drivers for your nvidia card, follow the directions here to do that. pcbuilder Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Share Posted June 28, 2004 I have downloaded the drivers via the link and followed the instructions.I installed the kernel then tryed to carry on but the downloaded file could not be found.Checking the file name i noticed it was different than the instructions 4496-pkg2 was in fact 5336-pkg1.But typing this in came up with the same result where am i going wrong Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When i enter the chmod command it seems nothing happens the cursor just drops down aline is this correct? tyme Posted June 29, 2004 Report Share Posted June 29, 2004 say no to attempt to download from NVIDIA ftp, and then say yes to building a module. make sure you: urpmi kernel-source as suggested in the FAQ before you go this route. The problem is simply that nvidia has not created an RPM for Mandrake 10.0, and so you must build your own module.
