SNF and webserver loopback problem

Setup:

Mandrake SNF forwards port 80 to webserver which has an internal IP address.

My problem is that i want to type in http://www.whatever.com and be sent to my webserver. SNF seems to not allow traffic to loop back through the system. I was told that this was a security feature and was used to make sure that nobody could forge an internal ip address and access the webbased SNF config. To make this short I want to be able to turn this off with out causing a security issue. I belive that it is a general firewall setting that i need to turn off, but have little experince with anything other then a GUI config.

does anybody know which files to edit and what to look for? and especially what not to do. Thanks.
