Guest basedau
Dear all, After installation of the Mandrake 10.0 final, my CD-Writer is not detected properly anymore (I did not have problems with mandrake 9.2). On the other hand, I can read CDs without problems. I use CDRDAO, as I produce from live records CDs (from TOC file). Could anybody help me, how to debug the problem or/and how to solve it? Thanks in advance! Under #, cdrecord -scanbus delivers the following: [root@x1-6-00-20-ed-6d-a9-86 basedau]# cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord-Clone 2.01a27-dvd (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright © 1995-2004 Jörg Sch illing Note: This version is an unofficial (modified) version with DVD support Note: and therefore may have bugs that are not present in the original. Sarissi
Which kernel are you running? 2.6.x does not need ide-scsi anymore for atapi cd/dvd drives.
chris z
to expand a bit to what Sarissi said........... he's correct. if you don't know how to disable scsi emulation, open your /etc/lilo.conf file with a text editor of your choice, look at the line that says "append=" & remove any line that looks like hdX=ide-scsi (where X is the name of the device). save the file, then in terminal as root type lilo -v (hit enter) for the changes to take effect. reboot. note, it's always a good idea to make a back up of the lilo.conf before you go mucking about with it. Guest basedau
Please find below my lilo.conf. However, I think there is no line that looks like hdX=ide-scsi. java script:emoticon('') # File generated by DrakX/drakboot # WARNING: do not forget to run lilo after modifying this file boot=/dev/hda map=/boot/map default="linux" keytable=/boot/us.klt prompt nowarn timeout=100 message=/boot/message menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw image=/boot/vmlinuz label="linux" root=/dev/hda5 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="devfs=mount acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6" read-only image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.3-7mdk label="263-7" root=/dev/hda5 initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.3-7mdk.img append="devfs=mount acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6" read-only image=/boot/vmlinuz label="failsafe" root=/dev/hda5 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="failsafe acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6 devfs=nomount" read-only other=/dev/fd0 label="floppy" unsafe image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.25-2mdk label=2425-2 root=/dev/hda5 read-only optional append=" devfs=mount acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6" initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.25-2mdk.img
Guest basedau
Thank you Sarissi for the hint: I used the wrong kernel. Now cdrdao works!
