kilimanjaro
Has anyone else had problems with disc 2? I have made 12 copies of it and none of them work. I have used different computers to download and burn the disc. None of them work!
Cannonfodder
Usually the first step in a situation like this is to verify that the ISO image you downloaded is correct before you burn the CD. Have you done this? If not, and are not sure how to, do a search for md5sum or go look in our FAQ section... let us know how you make out ;)
Ixthusdan
Besides what cannon has already said, I just went through a nightmare caused by acpi turned on in the bios. Mandrake just does not install with that stuff turned on. Disk 2 seemed to be bad, which it wasn't.
kilimanjaro
I'll check out the md5sum. Â Hi Ix, I had no problem installing disc 1 and 3, and I actually downloaded disc 2 from four different mirrors, I tried three different machines, and used four different burner programs, to make the various discs and none of the worked, while disc 1 and 3 work the first time. Â btw I like your new avatar
Gowator
you can read the disk but not during install.... is that what you mean ? Â i think its a prob with the ide driver when it tries to remount the cdrom.... Â you could try a HDD install or even a minimal install from CD1 only, get it installed, reboot and then urpmi the rest in!
kmc77
I had the same problem with disk 2 (1 and 3 were fine) but I just downloaded it from another mirror and it worked fine. Come to think of it, tho, I tried to upgrade the first time, and just decided to do a fresh install the second time. Maybe that made a diffrence. Are you using the upgrade option or install? kilimanjaro
I was using the install option. I finally just installed it without disc 2 and then remove the disc from my media sources and did an udate, everything seems to be working fine right now.
