Besides what cannon has already said, I just went through a nightmare caused by acpi turned on in the bios. Mandrake just does not install with that stuff turned on. Disk 2 seemed to be bad, which it wasn't.

I'll check out the md5sum.

Hi Ix,

I had no problem installing disc 1 and 3, and I actually downloaded disc 2 from four different mirrors, I tried three different machines, and used four different burner programs, to make the various discs and none of the worked, while disc 1 and 3 work the first time.

btw I like your new avatar

you can read the disk but not during install.... is that what you mean ?

i think its a prob with the ide driver when it tries to remount the cdrom....

you could try a HDD install or even a minimal install from CD1 only, get it installed, reboot and then urpmi the rest in!

I had the same problem with disk 2 (1 and 3 were fine) but I just downloaded it from another mirror and it worked fine. Come to think of it, tho, I tried to upgrade the first time, and just decided to do a fresh install the second time. Maybe that made a diffrence. Are you using the upgrade option or install?
