I booted my computer today and found the cpu going crazy. I tracked down the culprit program and found it what autorun. I killed the process and the cpu settled down. This is the first time this has happened.

So, my question is: what is autorun and what does it do?

System Specs: Red Hat 7.3 running Ximian Desktop but using KDE all the time. (very easy way to keep up to date with evolution)

In Red Hat, IIRC, they include that app, and it's supposed to start CDs automatically ala Windows..

Maybe they don't, I'm not sure. But SuSE does, as do other "desktop" distros. It's been a long time since I tried Red Hat.

I've never had a real problem with it. But then again what were the real problems it had? I've only used Mandrake 9.0.

The only little problem I have is if I have a cd in and I'm "looking" at it I can't eject the disc untill I close the "window" to it.

Not a real problem to me just a minor inconvenience.
