A serious XFree86/font problem in 10CE

Thanks to all of you for the great help and especially to bvc :) ! I managed to start X finally. I reinstalled it, as bvc suggested and it placed the misc folder back on its place. I had to start mkfontdir after that but it finally works! :cheesy:

However, now I have a very weird problem. The "Sans" font (and some others, too) is not displayed the same way in when I log in as "root" and as a regular user.. I mostly prefer to log in as a regular user and the Sans font looks very bad when I am not logged as root. This affects not only KDE but the gtk apps, too...

I suppose there are some broken files in my /home/regular_user directory but I don't know which are those... Does anyone have an idea?

Good to hear (almost) everything works again... :D

In your $HOME you find a .fonts (hidden) folder, a .fonts.conf (with the location of the fonts) and a .fonts.cache-1 (which you can delete).

If I remember correctly when people had problems with 'Sans' they changed to 'Luxi sans' (use the kde control center for that).

(BVC :D )

:headbang:

sweet!

welll, almost, but I would look into devries suggestion for the Sans prob. Other than that, you could either remove it with drakfont (I doubt you want to touch that) or manually delete it>service xfs restart>manually put it back>service xfs restart.

I tried a few things but nothing good happened and I went :screwy: and deleted the whole user account and created a new one. I lost the settings but hey, now EVERYTHING WORKS FINE!! :cheesy:

Thanks again to all for your help!! :D :D
