iphitus
I have a 64mb flash drive that i want to be able to put a bootable linux on, does anyone have any suggestions of A ) any existing distros or B) instructions. I really want to make my own and either of the above will help greatly. Should i get enough info to make one successfully, i will write a full how-to iphitus My bios supports booting to flash drives. And if Linux can run off a floppy, (google tomsrbt) it can easily run off a USB drive Edited May 26, 2004 by iphitus

Gowator
There's a comprehensive list of Live CDs here. :) it still leaves the question of how do you make it bootable! you can copy the files to the USB device but that doesnt mean you can boot from it! chris:b
iphitus, start with Feather Linux: http://featherlinux.berlios.de/ I think, all instruction how to install on a usb stick you'll find there. Also, how you would remaster this small LiveCD (based on Knoppix) ... You can browse the list of the LiveCD's, there are some you can install on your usb flash, and all have different install/copy routines to make it bootable. The most nicest is SLAX, but it's too big :D (188 MB) Maybe slax-mini, don't know. Good luck!
iphitus
I am pretty much lookin for one i cant screw around with for a while, then, once i know how it works, i can then modify it. I am aiming for, and no im not insane X (using KDRIVE Xserver), Dillo, http://www.nllgg.nl/Ted/, all the utils you would expect on a CD to fix systems, 2.6 kernel, Angband, ssh and whatever else i feel like putting in iphitus

Gowator
Yep I hate floppy drives but sometimes they still seem to have a use! I guess making a CD that boots fromthe USB is self defeating!
