Guest bbehling
I have a compaq d530 and the computer will not auto-power off. Any ideas as to what file and what line in a file I have to edit? Thanx
liquidzoo
Is this a desktop or laptop? I had the same issue with my laptop. I had to install and enable acpi and acpid for it to work.
bvc
Welcome to the board! What mandrake and kernel version? Are you using apmd or acpi and acpid? Look in the Mandrake Control Center (MCC)>System>Services (or DrakXServices) for apmd and/or acpi and acpid. Which is checked, which is running? In a terminal>as root; su <enter password> then run; cat /proc/cmdline what does it say? I'm assuming that by auto you mean just turn off instead of having to use the button? Correct?
