brads
Hi All was running 9.2 the installed 10 official over top as update. Worked OK then struck operator induced problems so formatted hard drive and decided to install 10 as new install. Got right through install process OK to last screen saying install completed and to remove boot cd and reboot. When rebooted screen came up with line upon line of figures 99 then froze. Went through whole process again with same result. Have now re-installed 9.2. Comp. is Athlon 550, (?) with 8gb HDD. Mandrake is only system on HDD. Any ideas anyone? Gowator
Well updates are never the best with MDK but... You should be able to boot from CD and do rescue mode (f1 then rescue) and then I think theres a FAQ.... (fix lilo in rescue mode or similar) If not get back to us and well walk U through it.... brads
Thanks for that. Will try v10 as clean install in the near future. cheers: Brads
IceStorm
I recently had the same problem. I went into rescue mode and reinstalled the boot loader. Worked fine after that. You may also hit F1 and try and upgrade 10.0 with 10.0 as well, that can help too.
brads
Hi Icestorm Thanks for that. I`ll try that if the same problem appears next time I try installing v10. Cheers: Brads
AussieJohn
Whenever you get a screen of all 999999999999999s it means the MBR has been screwed up . Usually you only have to clear the MBR and you can cleanly boot straight into your windows OS. For linux you then do a dummy upgrade which is quicker and fixes most little problems as well, rather than all the other often quoted methods that do not really fix anything along the way. Remember:-- A screen full of 999999999999999 means a screwed up MBR and NOT a screwed up OS or OSs. Cheers. John.
durvish
Yet another time I fully agree with AussieJohn. When you get all those 9's it's the MBR. The OS should be just fine.
