Guest steve02a
Let's see...I have have mandrake 9.2 installed and everything is working and cool, so far. the OS recognized my NIC card, IP address' are correct, it's up and running. I've made sure in my resolv.conf file that my DNS address is listed - but I still can't connect to any website. I'm able to ping a website via their IP address, but not their host name. I'm lost. any suggestions or stuff I should look at specificially within the config of network for mandrake? I'm the super-newbie here so be gentle. roland
I'm able to ping a website via their IP address, but not their host name. problem of name resolution: DNS. you said that your DNS address are listed in resolv.conf. ok. what is the search order ? is your pc standalone or also connected on a LAN ? can you post your resolv.conf ? can you post the result of ifconfig -a ? can also be routing problem. see the "route" command. I'm don't know much about network but I post here all the questions I may ask to myself if I were you. hope this help
