MrWhisp
Hello, I would like some advice from someone experienced in running Mandrake remote. The question is, shall I run TightVNC or RFBdrake? I think it is possible to connect to TightVNC from a Windows workstation. But it is possible to connect to RFBdrake from Windows? This is however not required from my point of view... Which one of the two alternatives has best performance? Which ports are they running at? I havent used it BUT I was at the linux expo in Paris earlier this yr and it was working great. Its more efficient becuase it doesnt use the whole X protocol just Qt ... MrWhisp
KDE Desktop Sharing seems to do the work. I have installed and configured it, but it won't work... I set the port to 5901 and allowed connections to this port through the firewall. I tried to open a session using the Webmin VNC client. I just got a EOFException in the window. I also tried to use RealVNC but it didn't work either. Does anyone know what could be wrong? /MrWhisp
Gowator
Maybe the firewall.... Are you using NAT ??? I'd try and get it working between 2 local machines first, (in fact it could be the same machine with X running twice .... ) and once its working try running it across the firewall. MrWhisp
I've tried with the firewall disabled. There are no problem accessing the webserver, but shared desktop don't work
Gowator
It seems really werid its all of the shared desktop stuff, that all. have you perhaps set the firewall up on the actual box ? Im at work now on XP (yuck) but I can see if it works on mine at home later ... and check which ports.
