william
Does anybody know a linux based application that converts .ico files into jpeg, png, bmp, etc. I downloaded a set of icons which the files are .ico and would like to use under linux. Thanks. Edited April 22, 2004 by william
Steve Scrimpshire
ImageMagick does this: convert image.ico image.gif a quick and dirty script that will convert all the images in a directory from ico to gif: #!/bin/bash for img in * do imagenm=`basename $img .ico` convert $img $imagenm.gif done Make a directory where you put all your ico files and drop this script in there and chmod +x it and run it. Should work. Edited April 22, 2004 by Steve Scrimpshire

william
Before posting I had spent almost 1 hour trying to convert it in windows and its shareware applications, but without success. bvc, gthumb was here in front of me I converted a batch of 330 icons at once. Steve, I'll keep your script for a future use. Thank you alll, guys.
bvc
If you're into editing/changing/making icons or want to http://www.stardock.com/ has Icondeveloper, which is what I use to convert .ico to png if I'm in win. http://www.stardock.com/products/icondeveloper/ oh....it's not shareware and this assumes you have win. william
Thanks for the links, bvc. My need was only for this set of icons that I found quite cute (GANT), I had used as .ico files with rox and gdesklets, but I'm editing some enlightenment theme files in order to put icons on the desktop and it needs to be .png intead .ico. That's all.
