Stevieag Posted April 19, 2004 Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 (edited) EDITED :- SEE BELOW I GOT IT WORKING i've looked through plenty of forums, asked loads of questions. i have the said alcatel 330 usb speedtouch modem (note: before i start, upon mount none........ i get none could not be mounted according to [cant remember] none is already mounted, is this o.k.) i have been through the set up as in past versions ./configure && install ./make install blah blah blah.... i'm getting the led's flashing now in kernel 2.6 after installing speedtouch-1.2-1mdk.i586.rpm if not installed i get nothing couldnt get to work, hung at first with alcauld.sys, ok with mgmt.o get a responce with ifconfig ppp0 tried an install as above full normal but when asked at install which applications i require i also ticked the 2.4 kernel same as above tried another install as full but with lsb to force a 2.4 kernel install again nothing i here now in windoo's and getting very p@#*ed off please help me , i'm sick of flicking back and forth between mdk and win and sick of installing. no joy going back to mdk 9.X if poss, family getting sick of p.c. being down and slagging linux off as poo Edited April 19, 2004 by Stevieag Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Stevieag Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 (edited) its working i'm here in linux mdk 10 kernel 2.4 (i'm sure) prob try a clean install with 2.6 for definate MY SECRET??????? speedtouchconf-20-03-2004.tar.gz it didnt work at first but after restart boot into root and ran /etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch start waited.......wow did have to urpmi bc decompress speedtouch file place microcode into decompressed folder cd into it type in /speedtouchconf.sh answer as asked and in my cas came up that couldnt load microcode then couldnt lfind ppp0 but as said i rebooted typed /etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch start BINGO I'M HERE Edited April 19, 2004 by Stevieag Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
