Sony Digital Audio / USB Audio issues

To my welcomed surprise, Mandrake 10 was the first platform I've found to actually work with my usbaudio sound device, labeled 'Sony Digital Audio System'.

 

The only issue I'm having now is the fact that sounds now play consecutively, stacked, instead of concurrently. If I'm for example, playing a mp3, and I have four or five IMs that come in on gAIM while it's playing, it'll wait until after I stop the mp3 for it to play the sounds. This happens with aRts enabled and disabled. Is this just a limitation of the current usbaudio drivers, or is it something that could possibly be fixed?

try using the ESD sound server. It has a little lag (which can be fixed), but will play mulitple sounds at a time.
