KiwiNZ
I have Mandrake 10 installed and have noticed that internet performance is slow. I have a 2Mbps Cable link . Sites take at least a minute to connect . If I boot to WinXP the speed is almost instant. Any suggestions? I am using a Motorola Surfboard modem connect through a 100 Router to ethernet. It is the same in Mozilla , Konqueror, Epiphany . Cheers
mtweidmann
2Mbps?! I could off you in a big way. ;) As the modem is attached directly to your router its unlikely to a driver problem as it is the router that should be dealing with it. I think its more likely to be something to do with your network settings in MDK. I would re-run the network set up from the control centre, but this time do everything manually including setting a manual IP. Making sure that you specify the IP address of your router as the gateway. But don't forget that CE really is a RC so it could be a software fault that will be fixed. Ixthusdan
Yes, what roland said. Read that thread! In short, upgrade to the new kernel.
KiwiNZ
I have been unable to resole this issue.. It would seem that it is a Kernel issue. after doing all that was suggested the page rendering was still painfully slow. I decided ok , I will blow away MDK 10 and installed Fedora core 1 and no probs. Upgraded the Kernel to 2.6 and the rendering slowed dramatically. I tried the fixes suggested on Fedora as well with out success. Rolled back to Core 1 with Kernel 2.4 .22 and no problems.
