Once a newer kernel version is adopted by Mandrake (is stable and such), will it be able to be updated via rpmdrake? or any other updating program?

ive read some of the guides on how to do this manually, but since ive just recently came from windoze, im not use to all of this flexibility with controlling your own box down to the kernal....anyways i want to start off slow at first, and im looking to see if rpmdake will update the kernel automatically.

Yes.

rpmdrake is a gui wrapper for urpmi(if thats a good way to word it?). BUT, I think there has got to be something else to it, because of times that rpmdrake wouldn't and urpmi would. Don't know what?

You could always download the one you want

cd /path/to/the/new

and

rpm -Uvh kernel-x.x.x-xx....

You might want to look at my tutorial too, since it will help you to understand what happens when you install a real kernel, not via RPM. ;)

So if something screws up, you'll know what went wrong. At least I found my tutorial helpful for myself. No more needing to remember commands. :)
