phunni
I have found a few utilities to perform the conversion - including mplayer, audacity etc... The problem is, the file that I need to convert sound fine in windows media player, but on Linux on any of the players I have tried - Mplayer and audacity - it simply sounds like a couple of squeaks and then ends. It still sounds the same after an attempted conversion. So, first up - how can I make it sound like music? Also does anyone have any other recommendations for converters? grendal
I too need this answer. I have a bunch of music files that I want to make into cd's, but on Mandrake 10 it's just a bunch of fuzz. Sure I could boot windows, but whats the point in that? I just need someone to point me in the right direction.
phunni
I'm wondering if the issue is DRM...?
DragonMage
It's 75% DRM issue I think. A typical windows media player usually DRM the WMAs created by ripped cds. You just don't notice it until you try listening it in another computer.
Michel
Have you also tried xine? They also use the win32-codecs found on the mplayer-site I believe, .. but maybe you have more luck with that. If it's drm .. don't know immediatly..... phunni
xine plays the WMA files as if they have no length - no error messages. I think this is a DRM issue, but I had hoped that Linux software would be able to work around it - does anyone know of any that can?
